  • Environmental biogeochemistry
    Biogeochemical interactions between water, soil/sediment, organic matter, microbes, and fishes; biogeochemical cycling of nutrients and trace elements in soils.

     

  • Synchrotron experience
    National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center (Taiwan), Super Photon Ring – 8 GeV (Japan), Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource (USA), National Synchrotron Light Source (USA), and Advanced Photon Source (USA).

     

  • Analytical chemistry
    Experienced skills in spectroscopic data analysis and speciation of As, Se, Hg, P, Al, and Fe.

     

  • Inorganic chemistry
    Synthesis and structure development of nano particles; application of X-ray absorption spectroscopy including x-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) spectroscopy and extended x-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) spectroscopy; application of nanometer-scale scanning X-ray microscopy.

     

  • Surface chemistry
    Removal and remediation of heavy and trace metals; molecular-scale sorption and desorption mechanisms of metals and oxyanions at the mineral-water interfaces.
